Jacques Brodeur has 30 years experience as a physical education teacher.

In 1986, he directed a collection of war toys in 13 schools in Charlesbourg, a suburb of Quebec City. These toys were recycled to build a monument for Peace.

He coordinated Peace Education activities for 7 teachers' unions in the Quebec City area from 1988 to 1999.

In 1987, he helped create PACIJOU and participated in the writing of "Cessez-le-feu", (Cease-Fire), a teachers' guide to Peace Education.

In 1990, he helped in the creation of TROP (Time to React to Outrageous Programming) later called PEACE (Positive Entertainment Alternatives for Children Everywhere) and invented the " Youth Vote", an empowering approach to media literacy.

The Roy C. Hill Foundation honoured him twice for his pedagogical innovations. In 1987 (the war toys collection) and 1997 ("The Youth Vote") , for projects relating to the culture of Peace.

In 1996, the Physical Education Teachers Federation of Quebec awarded him the Health Education Meritas.

In January 1997, he co-chaired the Coalition for responsible television.

He coordinated the Brundtland Green Schools Network for the Centrale des syndicates du Quecec from November 1998 to December 2000.

In January 2001, he became a consultant, speaker and PD Resource person for schools and school districts in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

Since August 2002, he coordinates a community mobilization program called EDUPAX to help prevent youth violence and promote Peace education through Media Awareness Development.

In the summer of 2001, he became Board Member of "Safe and Caring Schools and Communities of Canada".

In Octobre 2002, he was elected Board Member of ACME , Action Coalition for Media Education.

Currently, Jacques Brodeur is a resource person in "Sharing Teaching Excellence" , an initiative sponsored by the Canadian Teachers' Federation and the Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence.

In April 2003, he will coordinate the "10 Days TV and Videogame-Free Challenge" for the Parents Association of Quebec-Chaudiere-Appalaches Regions.

Since January 2003, he coordinates the "Campaign to counter TV violence" for the Commission scolaire de Montreal.

He is successful with younger children, teenagers, parents and teachers.
